Yeah the PVC is a bit stiff. But you just have to twist it a bit on either the gas tap or the bunsen and it will be fine. I've seen that some electrical cables now use silicone as the coating and claim that it is less dangerous in case of overheating and fire...I'm not sure how accurate that is but ...

Bunsen hoses
Hi, I've been told by another labby that there is a general length that the hoses for bunsen burners should be...for safety reasons of course. I was also told that you are only supposed to use PVC tubing for the hoses too. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this.

Ive found that kerosene works to disolve the wax. I have a bottle full of kero that I use just for that and you don't need much either. I also unscrew the jet from the base and use a single bristle from a wire brush to clear the nozzle. That usually seems to work. The trick is to not deform the thre...

Beer amylase is a specific type of amylase used in the fermentation of beer. I think it it suposed to be a better carbon source for the yeast in the fermentation process or it makes the fermentation process occur quicker or something.
