Re: Not Happy
Our ceiling fan at home has a switch for summer or winter. We like to refer to it as the "good" and "evil" switch - a Simpson's reference for those dedicated followers
Incidentally I did try the fans in here and it certainly helped, so thanks AnnNos!

Good quality burettes
I was wondering if anyone had bought burettes recently that they are happy with. I'm also looking to buy some large (1L) volumetric flasks. I found an older post of people frustrated with poor quality equipment so I'm not alone! I would rather spend the extra and get something that will last. I also...

Re: Not Happy
Last week I had the wall heater running for two hours and it was still only 16 deg in here. At least at takes a while to warm up in summer as I'm on the south side of the building.

Re: Not Happy
We needed a fan for Biology pracs. Just so happened that the "fan" I bought also happens to be a heater. This prep room is freezing in winter with an undersized heater installed. So my "fan" comes in handy on those really cold mornings. The one I bought is also much easier to sto...

Re: dishwasher
I bought an LG one at my last job about 4 years ago. I've heard some really bad things about this brand not being reliable, so worth getting advice from the sales people. What I do know is that it is still working fine and what I really liked about it was that it had a setting where you could wash t...

Re: Chemwatch labels
Yes, Rae, I had the same problem this week for HCl, can't remember which molarity, regardless, something really common. Typed it in to the search, waited for the drop down menu, selected what I wanted but still didn't find it until Page 3! There were other chemicals listed before it. I don't get it!...

Re: Any benefits to making a Manifest in Chemwatch
Hi Kim The benefits of using Chemwatch for your manifest is that it allows easy off site access to your chemical list. This is especially important in the event of a fire where the local brigade would need to know what chemicals are being stored. Now the downside. You are limited to what you can add...

Re: chemical register etc
Wasn't there another post recently about this company? We use Chemwatch here, and don't see any need to change UNLESS something more specific to schools becomes available. What is the cost of this other company? Comparable to Chemwatch?

Re: chemical register etc
I use Chemwatch for labels and some safety data sheets. The chemical manifest was on Chemwatch but I've been given the okay to transfer it to a spreadsheet. I will need to save it so there is remote access as well as keeping a hard copy in the office. By having it on a spreadsheet, I can have the in...

Re: Iodine Classification
The start of S. 14 talks about chemicals it is incompatible with in transport. I got a bit giddy reading it the first time, but took time to work out what they were saying. Interesting on a chart I have with the old DGC - Group 6 causes injury and Group 8 cause damage. So I guess it depends on the d...

Re: Iodine Classification
Yes, Superbug, under S.14, but I'm referring to the SDS from the manufacturer (Chemsupply) dated March, 2015. I only use Chemwatch SDSs if I can't obtain one directly from the supplier.

On the Safety Data Sheet the transport hazard is 6.1, not an "8".

Iodine Classification
Hi All I just bought a new bottle of chem-supply iodine and it is no longer classified as corrosive. It is classed as "hazardous to the aquatic environment" and "acute toxicity". Anyone else noticed this? I'm not sure how old our old bottle was, so maybe I've just missed somethin...

Too true, Rae. At least WE know we are doing the right thing. I don't get paid enough to worry about the rest of them
