Re: Laboratory Skills Course
Hey Amanda, I can beat that, only 4 in my class (it was 3 but they convinced a day student to come to the night classes where she would fit in better). I, too though, am the only school labbie. We're doing a subject on quality control - I don't know, I just can't get into it for some reason :giggle:...

Re: Risk Assessments
Risk assessments are a requirement of Workcover (in NSW) for all work places. I don't work in a DET school, so am not aware of their system. We use Risk Assess in my current school and it meets our needs for prac ordering and risk assessments. I'm still finding my way around the system of my current...

Re: Risk Assessments
Also, have a look on Science Assist as they have posted some SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for some of our activities. Can only imagine that there will be more to come. In the real world, these are the sort of documents that you would be expected to have for every task you perform, especially...

Centrifuge - Suggestions for a new one
Hello We have two hand operated centrifuges. One is quite old and apparently useless. We have a newer one (although I'm not sure how old it is), a Shinco brand and we've had complaints that it doesn't attach to the bench properly and the tubes come out. It has plastic tubes which I believe the glass...

Re: RIP Robin Williams
My son recently watched Dead Poets Society at school and absolutely loved it, unfortunately most of his friends hated it, so he was really shocked to hear that Robin Williams had passed away. Yes, Rae, the black dog is atrocious and this shows that even money, talent and adoration from millions of f...

Re: ASET NSW 2 day conference
The break out session details are on the list of workshops. Am I correct in assuming that we will break off into DET, Catholic and independent school groups?

We have the Vernier data loggers here. They don't get used a great deal but get no complaints when they are used.

Re: Laboratory Skills Course
I checked with the teacher this week and she has told me that next year the Cert III in Lab Skills will be $1300 per semester. If you are considering doing this course, it is not too late to enrol now for this semester, at least that way you can take advantage of one semester @ $420. The course at C...

Too bad, Rae, you must be really disappointed. Maybe you could reschedule your holiday?
Margaret - do you know what day the breakout sessions will be?
Thanks

Acid Rain Video
One of our teachers has been looking for a video about acid rain. At her previous school, they had it on Clickview and she thinks it was called Acid Assault. She has been searching in vain on Youtube but only finds videos of people who have been assaulted with acid - not quite what she was after! Sh...

Re: GHS and Labels
I have set up my own templates using D-Gen on chemwatch to fit the small dropper bottles, which allows me to insert a colour dot, so when I print them up I have nothing more to do to them. Hi Sunray. I read one of your previous posts and looked at the D-Gen on Chemwatch. Thank you for your guidance...
