Have you been in contact with ASET NSW? They may have some ideas on where you can go / who you can contact for help & support. And because they are only for labbies there shouldn't be any conflict of interest going on.

Re: Universal Indicator (pH 3-11)
We don't dilute the purcased one. Another Labbie here did, but the teachers ended up having to use more and it didn't save anything.
We just decant into dropper bottles.

Re: PD day Dubbo
We are tight on money in the school budget, so I will be staying at the Ibis Budget for the night. I've checked on the map and it's only a few blocks from the Abel Tasman. If I'd booked anywhere more expensive they possibly would have said no... I'd love to meet up for dinner, let me know when &...

Dumpster dive at the local tip/recycling centre. Ours has a huge bin for people to put polystyrene in for recycling.

Re: GHS Labeling
It is such a big headache, I have been contacting other labbies in my area regarding GHS & labels, and here we have been told not to do any mass relabelling yet. See advice from one of our emails below: "DoE, UNSW and SafeWork NSW are having discussion in regards to these changes till then ...

Re: Labelling Indicators
I've been emailing Phillip regarding the info on labels, and I am reassured that all the extra info is not necessary in a school situation.
I did mention that having a % option would be helpful. I hadn't noticed at that stage that I needed to put in a molarity for universal indicator.

Do we know if there will be an online course for those of us who cannot easily make it to capital cities for the face to face? Or even better some courses at regional centres??

I melted sulfur in an evaporating dish in the fume cupboard, then poured it onto a metal tray to set. Once it was set, the teacher then used the lumps to test for conductivity.

Re: Transporting Textbooks
We had the same problem with the collapsible trolleys. Luckily our labs are all on 1 level so the teachers carry their own crates of books to class. The best I can suggest is to get one of those trolleys that goes up & down stairs. But they can be quite expensive, and bulky. Or get each kid to c...

Re: Laboratory Skills Course
TAFE New England were planning on running a course externally this year. You would have to be able to travel to Armidale for weekend workshops, about 6 of them all up I think. I completed the Cert III there last year. Most courses would have started at the beginning of this semester. Good luck!

Re: beam balances.
We still have them here, only about 10 or so. They tend to be used for practical skills with year 7 at the beginning of the year and that's about all.
after that they use electronic balances.
