Re: Any Lab job positions you know of???
Same as Sunray said, drop your resume into DET & independant schools, for casual work, it is the best way to hear of perm positions when they come up too
Good luck

Hi Rell & Kel,
Why dont you have a look on the Workcover web site, they MAY have an info sheet, just a thought, unless you contacted your education dept.
I am with you, it is way too dangerous to let yr9 lose with it
cheers

Re: Microwave disposal of agar plates
We have just bought bacterial cultures from Southern Biological, and they recommend 'all equipment is sterilised prior to disposal. Sterilise at 121oC & a pressure of 15psi for 20-30minutes prior to disposal' On another sheet for 'antiobiotics & bacteria' "All bacterial cultures sold by...

Re: Cheap and local source of Alum
Hi Wendy
I bought ours from Science Supply, 3kg $48, Chem Supply brand. We only use it for crystal growing, so I didnt think a cheaper one made a difference. I noticed Westlab have it too, 500g $18.90, buy 6 or more $17.20ea.
Cheers

If I feel inclinded to do so, I soak them in HCl overnight and then give them a wash. Seems to clean them ok. Ours only have magnesium in them, mostly.
