displacement reaction Cu O + Fe
I am having trouble preparing a Cu sample , from the heating iron filings with Copper Oxide.
I heat for a l o n g time, in Pyrex boiling tube, until it was read glowing hot.
But no go
is there an optimum ratio of the Cu O to Fe?

Re: Non slip mat for eye wash stations
would be interesting to drill a hole in my floor. Firstly its a concrete slab. and being ont eh top floor, there would be some interesting reactions from those in the downstairs classrooms! such as the time when one of the undersink pipes burst in my lab- all weekend long, and they were met with a s...

Re: Non slip mat for eye wash stations
yes Seton have the antifatigue mats. They are non slip, and honeycomed and quite thick. They would suit well for that purpose (emergency only). But are quite pricey I would love my prep area to be wall to wall antifatigue mats. Actually. I use a large one at my washing up sink. If there are any drip...

Re: Alternative to Chemwatch?
Krysia Chemwatch is like the governing Continent. ChemFFx is like country within the continent. Ok that sounds odd. ChemFFX is a smaller part of ChemGold 3, just has a few less features, but is suitable for all purposes. That m,ake sense? or not? ok I am of to have my morning coffee and hopefully wa...

I am sure that we all have a few. I know I have some of my own  But this morning reminded me of one of my teachers foibles/quirks He asks me to wash his whiteboard erasers. That is: take it out of the plastic case, soak and wash it (numerous times to get the ink out), dry it out & reglue ...
