Re: 2007 Chemical Safety in Schools Update Course

Hi Lou

I'll be flying down for the Science SASS conference the previous week and staying down for CSIS training. Staying in Ashfield with friends. Can exchange mobile phone numbers or something to meet up somewhere. :coffee:

Re: SASS Appreciation Week

Never been asked to mark exams, but have been solely responsible for the final output of academic reports for several years. Our new principal is horrified and says that the situation will change next year. I wish her luck getting the individual teachers to even spell the students' names right, let ...

Come to think of it, my ex-husband's name was Brian. He wasn't nearly as good looking as your Brian, Richard. :wink2:

Re: Brain disection- help please

Hi Barbara Certainly not! Some of us were raised on this sort of thing. I guess I'm showing my age now, and my small town country origins. Needless to say I don't inflict these things on my children (now adults) or my husband (picky eater), but we used to have these things on a regular basis in my y...

Re: SASS Appreciation Week

Our Principal took us for a yummy breakfast at a local coffee shop this morning! =D> We feel very appreciated (for today anyway) and the whole staff are bringing in morning tea for us on friday. :D It's a shame that next week we'll be invisible again, but let's make the most of it while we can. :cof...

Re: Dish Washers?

A couple of years ago I requested some money from the P&C. They are very helpful if it benefits their kids' education and they have a little money to spare. I approached a few of the larger electrical appliance stores for quotes. They were very obliging when I said it was for a school. A domesti...

Hi to the jokers!

Speaking as someone who also spends a bit of time in the office, I would suggest to you that the office personnel are not all as squeamish as you make out. I also LOVE to eat lamb's brains. :D :wink2:

Re: 10% HCl

Hi Liz

The conc. HCl we buy is 35%. I'm struggling a little trying to explain the maths, but I think that 28.6ml of this solution to 71.4ml of distilled water will make a 10% solution.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, and explain the maths.

Our HT said something the other day about all govt schools getting their labs upgraded. Hopefully that will include prep rooms. Who knows how long it will take to get around to everyone though. Let's not hold our breath waiting. :coffee:

Re: Broken glassware

Our teachers usually help the kids clean up the mess. We have a bucket in each lab to put the broken bits in and every now and then I round them up and empty them into the skip. I haven't looked all that closely into it, but is the type of glassware we use recyclable? It's not the same as your avera...

Re: Chem Store Usage
