Thanks everyone

I did try the website, but I can't get access to it from here. I can't even get Chemwatch@<URL removed, see forum rules>.
It would be great to access the same information that you are able to in the Eastern States.

Hi Whspa,
I'm with you. We still have benches in rows and have gas taps and sinks along them too. I am quite an experienced plumber now!
If anyone can post photos of their "newer" labs it would be appreciated.

Thank all for the input What is incredible is that this "drug" is used as a lethal injection yet it's classified as a non hazardous, non dangerous chemical? May be it should be revised! It scares me to think I have chemicals like this on the shelves. I will ring the local hospital to see h...

Sulphanilamide

Hi all,

I have inherited a very old lab with a few chemicals I have never heard of. One of which is Sulphanilamide or Sulfanilamide or Sulfaniamid. Has anyone come across this chemical and if so what would we use it in a lab for?

Also how do I dispose of it?

Many thanks

Hi Jazz,

I'll give it a go. I've never tried the glass water before so it'll be a bit of trial and error. Thanks for the tip

Crystal Gardens

Hi everyone, I need some help please regarding crystal gardens. I'm after an experiment that forms crystals (pretty much in front of your eyes). Just wondering if anyone knows any of the quick forming crystals? I know you can buy some kits from toy shops, but that isn't an option for us. :-( Thanks ...

Hi Dinks,

I use a solution called phenoxytol, which comprises of 10mL
2-phenoxyethanol, 50mL glycerin with 940mL distilled water.
It gives a nice glossy look to the specimens as well as being
non-flammable. Hope this helps.

Alum Crystals

Hi everyone,

I need help please on Alum crystals. On most web sites they say you can buy Alum from your spice section in the supermarket or chemist.
But is it the same as using Aluminium Potassium Sulfate? (Potash Alum)

Thanks

Lots of foods can be used for this experiment, we've used plain chips, twisties and even cashew nuts. [/sub]
