Re: Permanent texta on labcoats

Apparently blotting with acetone works, you should place paper on the underside to prevent bleeding or also I heard hairspray works.....go figure. Worth a try. \:D/

Re: New updated training manual

That looks great I wish we had something like that in Queensland. We have "Aspects of Science manual',which look like it was written in the 1970s???? Something like this NSW manual would be ideal for all new labbys who are generally thrown into the job without a clue. I can only wish.... :boring:

Re: A Different year??!

That sounds the same as my job here. I can go for weeks with not much to do in the way of pracs and then all of a sudden they are coming in thick and fast. Term 3 here is always a busy one and the prac orders started at day 1 this term and they haven't slowed down. Its great =D> I'd rather be busy, ...

Re: Professional Training/Network Day

Yes I guess I forgot how cold it gets down south as I sit here in my shorts and t-shirt with the fan on. Winter in the tropics is just the most beautiful time of year. I certainly dont miss those cold frosty mornings in N.W. NSW when it takes you half an hour to get out of bed. By far the worst thin...

Hey Smiley

You can pick me up on the way and we can make it a girls (think Thelma and Louise) road trip. :cheesy:

They will never notice that the car is missing for a few days...will they?

Re: Digital Microscopes

Go to http://www.ausinst.com.au. They have all types of gadgets that you can use on your existing microscopes in order to get a digital image onto you computer. Or alternatively you can buy a digital microscope like we did 2 weeks ago for around $400.00 for a junior one. I rang Australian Instrument...

Re: Do we know pracs in advance/provide classroom service?

No I have no idea what pracs are coming up. The teachers fill in a prac request form from an access database that has been set up with every prac we do. They then email it to me with 24 hrs notice (mostly). My teachers are very good to me and sometimes I get a weeks notice. I dont usually go into th...

Re: Dishwashers

Hi The dish washer is great for washing test tubes. Of course there are those times when you still have to scrub them by hand but it will save you heaps of time with the general cleaning of glassware. I just pop them over the spikes, sometimes they pop off and I find them under the rack but they are...

Re: removing black permanent texta from whilte labcoats

You could try metho as alcohol is the solvent for permanent texta.

Perhaps try dabbing the texta first with a clean rag dipped into the metho to see if it will work.

Good luck with it,

Cheers Nicky

I have a microwave oven in my prep room. I use it for agar plates, electrophoresis buffers, heating up water sometimes... heating up your lunch. You can use it for lots of things. I find it very handy.

Re: Junket!!

Hi All Junket from Simply Junket costs $6.00 for 10gm vial $11.00 for 2 * 10gm vials $55.00 for 150gm bag. I think it is 1 teaspoon = 1 tablet. That was the going price in February this year. They are very quick with the delivery as well. Hope this helps.
