Re: Dry Ice

We have been fortunate enough to receive some of the left over ice from the local pathology offices. After they finish transporting specimens their excess is thrown out. It helped that one of our teachers had her mother working there,so i don't know how much this had to do with our access to it. Oth...

Esters

Our seniors are hoping to do ester production next term-does anyone have the amounts/volumes of propionic (propanoic) acid needed to add to 1-propanol, butanol and pentanol. Any help would be much appreciated. Happy (chocolate filled) Easter.

Re: Clip art for Science equipment

We used the scientific drawing in the back of Science Tracks 8 p411-415. It lists the equipment, How to draw it and Uses. We scanned the book and with some editting have made our own posters etc (no copyright infringement intended)

Re: OMG!!!!!!!!!!

:D One of our new (young) teachers regularly plays music especially to her senior chemistry classes. Surprisingly there is less noise and commotion in the class and it is a great bribery tool (even for the naughty Yr 12's). The kids seem to get their work done and can function with even the Doof- Do...

As far as I can gather the dept. doesn't have the resource you mentioned. I shall handball that one back to them ! Thanks . ...

determining nitrogen cont of fetilizer

Hi, has anyone got an reccommendations for this senior chem prac. Any brand of fertilizer/product that gives any kind of result? In the past we have not had much luck with this. Some mention was made regarding a particular brand at the Science Conference last year, but we can't remember.
cheers Chris
