Re: Add some life to the Labs

Frog's lizards, snakes in persertives in a jar, also seems also bring the students to the glass cabnet to look see. These cabnets are locked, so we do not seems to have any thing go missing. Dried flowers cut or pressed ( although they dry out) do add a little interest. Their are some really good po...

Re: Cobalt Chloride Paper

WE do not have a microwave oven in our prep room. I also hate pressure cookers. So do not sterlize my agar plates.

Re: how to remove waterglass marks from glass

Try soaking them in diluted HCL. WHen the students have experiments and they use HCL, I just put it in a large 2.5 bottle, labeled unknown CONC. HCL USED FOR CLEANING . I top it up with what ever HCL is left in beakers etc. And I use this HCL on hard stains, fill the test-tube up or beaker, bottle, ...

Re: Junket!!

Perhaps a search in Chemtalk, may enlighten you. Junket, was taken off the shelves at one time. Junket can now be purchased at Health Food stores, Naturopaths, IGA Supermarkers. I have a fryer, should you wish to have a copy.

Please let me have your fax number. :coffee:

Re: Help please, I feel like Homer Simpson !!!

I would suggest you put that glass container in the waste collection, to be picked up at a later date. Just label it with the contents. Our bible in NSW does not have Uranyl Nitrate in it, so I can not help you. HCL should be Neutralised first with Sodium Bicarbonate, then Dilute Down Sink to waste....

Re: CuSO4

I have always put sulfuric Acid in our Copper Sulfate, I believe it keeps it longer. Or perhaps I have got it mixed up a little. Copper Sulfate pentahydrate has a much longer shelf life. But putting Acid into must do some thing else.

Hurry up Robb we need you

The head teacher before: purchased CASIO data loggers, the books had gone missing, along with a few pieces. When we rung CASIO up for help, well it just did not appear. The teachers like to do, it them selves, I guess they put the water in first, then add the conc Sulfuric Acid. Even by pushing the rubber electrodes up it still leaks. I really ...
