Re: Help Sassi
If the stock solution of Hydrogen Peroxide is old, it may have turned into water, but this doesn't explain why the reaction was less when the concentration was higher though

Why Is It So?
Why do science teachers decide that the last few weeks of the last term are a good time to do projects with groups of 2 or 3 students? Especially when the budget closed on the 31st of October and they need stuff bought from the supermarket etc.

Re: Chemtalk has been blocked
Right now I am getting really annoyed I cannot even refer to You_Tube or Face_Book (without the lines) in a post or else I get I blocked from posting. This is my 4th attempt at sending a message, as I was saying this is a professional forum not a site like You_Tube or Face_Book, so there is not a re...

Re: What do you do when you KNOW the teacher is wrong
It depends on who they are there are a couple of teachers that I tell if they are doing something wrong and a few who i wouldn't dare say anything to unless it was going to cause a danger. Usually the mistakes are on the theory side of things as well

Re: Nitrile gloves dont protect you from........
Clear Polyethalene gloves, is what I have. They said they performed a test by pouring acid etc into different types of gloves and seeing what happened to the gloves. eg leaks etc. Still it pays to look at the MSDS and most if not all glove manufactors have data about it on their websites.

Re: Nitrile gloves dont protect you from........
The Chem. Dept. at the local Uni. said during a safety course that the best type of gloves in their opinion for handling the majority of chemicals was the cheap clear sandwich gloves. Plus they are not latex or powdered so if you have an allergy to either of those things that is also a good thing ab...

You could try:
The Fibreglass Shop
202-204 Argyle St, Hobart, TAS 7000
p: (03) 6234 2689
Although I am not sure what the 2 chemicals that you need are or if they would sell them

Prehaps you should swap jobs with the Principal even for a day and then they will know that you do valuable work in the science area and will keep you there

Large Hadron Collider (LHC)
Why is it that because I am the Lab. Tech, people think I have knowledge of all things scientific? The day after the LHC was tested I was in the staff room and the cleaners were asking me what I knew about the LHC. I mean I have read some stuff about it and watched a couple of the promotional type v...

But how did you actually do it, the filter paper I mean... After it was blended up we placed a small amount of the resulting mush on the filter paper and left it to soak into the filter paper and after a while there was a ring of what could have been fat, water or a combination of the two around th...
