Hi all.
Just wanted to let you know that my mistake of using Nutrient Agar for Phenophthalein Jelly did work the same as Agar Agar. Expensive way to do it though, especially if the teachers don't use it all and particulary if you buy the Nutrient Agar Powder in !!!!!!!

Phenophthalein Agar Jelly
I have just realised a booboo with making the agar with Nutrient Agar instead of Agar gel.In all the years I have been making it, this is the first time I messed up. What I wanted to know is will the prac.still work? Surface Area to Volume Ratio is the experiment.

Hi there.
Yes it is our job. Wrap the glass in lots of newspaper and tape it up. Don't forget to write what it is you have wrapped. Then dispose in your normal bin for the cleaner to take away.

I had the head teacher come to me at the beginning of the week asking me about it.
I told him we are not required to do risk assessment sheets for pracs.
He was happy to go along with that. I think they are busy enough as it is.So am I !!!

Also can make a solution of weak Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate (Bi Carb.Soda) or Boric Acid and slowly add to indicator until green colour is reached.

Anyone out there in chemtalk land know where I can buy Silica quartz crucibles?
Teacher came to me the other day to see if they can be bought in Australia. Apparently she used them in India at University.Can be heated to very high temperatures and don't stain.

Hi all, It has been quite a while since I have posted anything!!!! Has anyone noticed the cost of freight for chemicals lately? I have just ordered 8 chemicals and was charged $45.00 !!!!!
