Re: Talc

I will be adding my talc to the pile of other rock samples that have been double bagged ready to be collected for disposal, due to asbestos. The annoying thing though is that the whole kit has to go not just the talc. I see I also have to get them to remove the vermiculite as well.

Re: Not Happy with Chemwatch

The letter says the contract they had with Independent and Catholic Schools in the state has ceased. So we no longer get the bulk discount. The bad news is that the $1,672 is a heavily discounted price (60% discount) so we might have to pay the full price next year.

Not Happy with Chemwatch

Just got an email from Chemwatch that there will be an increase in price when we renew our subscription. As we paid $80 plus GST last year I was thinking maybe $100 or so. Boy was I wrong! They are now going to charge $1,672.00!! WTF! There goes our budget. I don't think I can justify spending that ...

Re: Safety Goggles

Thanks Merilyn. That was what I was wondering, do the expensive ones last longer than the cheap ones. The last lot we got was from a parent who got us a really good deal through their business. They have lasted 7 years but now starting to lose a few through breakage and starting to get quite scratch...

I am looking at buying new goggles for the classrooms and was hoping if anyone had bought recently give me a pointer of where to start looking. What ones do you have at your school?
Thanks.

Re: Risk Assessment

We have just bought a licence to prepare for full use next year. Already had a few complaints. One was so upset about it they said they might request to only teach maths. HoD and I are hoping he follows through with it as it would make our lives so much easier with him out of the science department!

Re: Science and Engineering Challenge

Well done mazcheck, your school finished one place ahead of us, we came third. Like Mazcheck, it would be good if schools recognised the effort we put in as well.
Thanks Loopy!

[quote="DavidPeterson Definitely not the only one! If I didn't do it - we'd have nothing, as our Co-ordinator leaves it all to me to research, locate, get pricing and purchase. She signs major purchase orders but that's just a formality as she'll sign anything I put under her nose......[/quote]...
