Re: MTA products going downhill fast?
We have found Bill from MTA so good to work with. I simply send him a list of my requirements, he sends me back a quote for the items. I have had a few items that were not good quality, a phone call copy of invoice and replaced instantly. MTA are probably just like everywhere else at the moment and ...

Re: Technician recognition
My guys gave me a cake this morning and a huge thank you, and i was not expecting this so it was a huge surprise. :coffee: :w00t: I do not really believe in these sort of days/weeks as we are here doing our job, and we get paid to do it. Re: Microbiology
We are still doing this as we always do. I think i am lucky as i have very very good Biology teachers who are strict with all experiments. I sometimes think that this whole cleaning situation is funny in the sense that what we have to teacher people to wash their hands after going to the toilet. You...

Re: Best M.W. information
Anhydrous versions have different MW. That is why it is best to use the MW on the bottle .That way you know it matches what you have .Some recipe books don't state which type . tin chloride.jpg yes i think i will just go off my actual jars, thought there might have been a easier way. Funny how it i...

Re: Best M.W. information
If in doubt, make your own calculations using the molecular weight of the chemical. I have to rush off to a meeting now but I'm sure someone else can explain. Once you do this, you'll wonder why you ever had to look it up! Yes i know how to do this but even these are different on differen...

I absolutely love mine. My whole chemical store room in made of Gratnell shelving and drawers. So easy to adjust height with different size containers. So good for dropper bottles and solutions.

Re: Phenolphthalein Agar
i know this is a old old post but i have just came across a great idea of how to prepare the squares for the diffusion experiment.
K mart have silicone ice-cube molds that are perfect for the 3cm square cubes then students can cut another one down to get a 2cm square and 1cm square.

Re: Melting Phenolphthalein Agar
This is also a way that you can do the diffusion Agar 1. Measure out 1.6 g of agar-agar and 200 ml water. Mix them together with a whisk or fork in a large microwave-safe bowl. 2. Heat the solution in the microwave on high for 30 seconds. Remove to a heat-safe surface using a hot pad or oven mitts, ...

Re: Plastic dropper bottles
We use a mixture of both glass and plastic dropper bottles. The only chemical that is a must for me with the amber glass bottles is Silver Nitrate and Iodine Solutions. '
I have got my plastic bottles from both MTA and Westlab.

My question to that Kimmy is, has anyone been able to source the decanoic acid? Any recipes would be great - thanks in advance.
