The x-labby here slaughters their own meat. She brought me in a bullocks pluck once OMG it was freakin huge and heavy. It didn't fit in the freezer so everyone had to use it within 24 hrs.
Kids loved it they could stick their fingers in all sorts of places (with gloves on of course).

We have them here too and they are great had them for about 4 years no problems at all.

We just use sterile cotton buds to innoculate our plates. Dip in bacteria and wipe onto the plates.

Hi Nicky What we did here at this school was to move all our pupil free days to the first week of the year, so instead of starting on the Thursday we all started on the Monday. If there was any PD you wanted to do you could do it then. I dont know about you but support staff here are not included in...

No we use solution here made some up yesterday....i have never heard of using solid.

Nutrient agar 500gm $171.30

plain agar 500gm $88.00.

Trouble is its not a difference of a couple of dollars its more significant then that.

$88.00 for agar
$171.30 for nutrient.

I will definately be making up my own nutrient agar much much cheaper.

Sure have -have not had any problems with them so far.

AGREED. We only bring these specimens out once a year so for that reason alone I will not be messing around with formalin Besides just the thought of touching those critters and the possibility that they may fall apart makes me want to vomit.

Well I'll be......TAFE finally got back to me and apparently that 2 year course of fairly intense science is only equivalent to a Cert II. So unless I spend around $2000 to upgrade to a cert 3/4 I am stuck..
