Microwave
I have been given the go ahead for a new Microwave, for the prep room, to help with Agar and other items. As I had 6 weeks off with a damaged ankle, I plan to go shopping for the microwave on Tuesday. Any thing I should look for in a microwave for the lab. I know some of you have some great ideas. S...

Re: chemical waste
If you have a copy of the CSIS, Chemical Safety In Schools, their are two volumes. Appendix E disposal of waste chemicals. Volume 2, pages 1-30. You should have a waste glass jar for silver, Copper, and most of your heavy metals. You treat most of solutions and Neutralise, then they may go down the ...

Re: FUME CUPBOARDS
Yes, In Nov 05 our fume cupboards were condemned. I am to get 2 new fume cupboards. I managed to take a large bottle of acid to a local school. And left it their, and would return to use the fume cupboards to make up stock required. I have now run out of acid, most of the bottles are empty. God only...

Well done Richard, I learn more and more as each day goes by. It may not always be in Science, but rights at work. What a big help this site has turned out to be. From what I do understand, if we SAO's take 9 days off, no one will replace us, but if we take 11 days or more off. If they can find some...

Re: What Do You Tell People?
I also would be most interested, in how it works. Our G.A.'s do not get the same holidays as us SAO's in NSW. Perhaps it works a little like that.
G.A. = General Assisants or Handy man.

Re: removing black permanent texta from whilte labcoats
I have not tried this, but have been told, rubbing alcohol, make up a paste of nappy san, and soak over the weekend, in nappy san, putting the paste onto the stain. On the Monday morning, rub with the rubbing alcohol, and finish off with a warm wash. Not a cold wash, or the whole thing may set. I ha...

We are having christmas lunch on 24th, and presents the lot, due to the fact my husband and his crew are on day shift on the 25th. I shall be having a coffee on 25th at 84 station, along with others partners and children. If the chaps get called out, we just lock up and go home. That life married to...
