Re: White Boards

If someone writes on the whiteboard with a permanent marker, then get paper towel and another permanent marker and scribble a bit at a time over what has been written and it pretty much wipes off straight away.
I have had to do that a few times and it works every time.

Re: venting of cabinets/chemical storage in hot weather

Hi all, I was wondering how Rowyrow got on with venting of the flammable cupboard. did it end up happening and does it make a difference. I have been going back through my posts to see when I first asked about others having problems with vapours from the chemicals. 2008, I first asked about this and...

Re: poster for plant diseases

Not sure what area you are from but you could try your local council office or land and environment office. I got some posters a couple of years ago from our local Department of Agriculture. Those departments may all be called something different now, they have a habit of changing names. I think the...

Re: Periodic table

Has anyone bought the Theodore Gray periodic table? We would like to get one but as far as I can see it seems to be only online from America. Would anyone know if it can be sourced in Australia.
Thanks

Re: Where do you buy your beakers from?

Hi, I do the school ordering and am supposed to do most of it through smartbuy. I rang asking why I couldn't find science equipment under the catalogue search and was told that I had to go to the next catalogue section and order stuff that comes from serratta. Be nice if they told the schools the ch...

Re: labelling chemicals NSW versus QLD

Don't know about overreacting or not but my HT said I shouldn't even have the PVA glue in a squeeze sauce bottle in the school because we could get fined. It's labelled correctly, doesn't leave the prep room and is a whole lot easier to use than what it came in. I figure some people don't have anyth...

Re: labelling chemicals NSW versus QLD

It wasn't so much about her doing labelling on new stock, it was more about the staff asking for chemicals or some equipment for example year 8, that we are only supposed to send out for senior students etc. I have told the staff here that they need to have all the prac requests they need for Friday...

labelling chemicals NSW versus QLD

Hello,
Can anyone tell me if the labelling requirements are the same for NSW DET schools and QLD schools. eg colour coding etc.
Only asking because we may be employing an ex QLD (Townsville)school science labbie to fill in on some days that I am taking off this year.
Thanks

geez, something to look forward to!!

I have spent the last 2 weeks printing off all new ones for the whole school, and the only person that will probably check them is the auditor.

Re: Help - Seeking advice/opinions

Sound a bit like our school. One of our casual teachers happens to be a plumber in a previous life, so guess who gets to do some of the plumbing jobs around the school on his free periods. Same as the previous GA who had electrician qualifications, they used him up as well! Tagging here, is done by ...

We are in the process of getting another geiger counter and radioactive sources as well. Although , I might take ours to another school and check ours against theirs because either the counter isn't working or the radioactive sources are stuffed. What is a "magic source"?? I thought that w...
