ANd I must say the did last a lot longer, and they do make it harder to burn. Again it is up to the te...

If you really do wish to get rid of them. Why not put a list on Chemtalk, and perhaps other people may like them. Instead of throwing them away.

Re: Disposing of Preserved Specimens
In NSW the CSIS package states, we can use Methylated Spirits 50% and 50% distilled water, for Preserved Items. Clean a jar, or container, we sterlised them, in milton tablets. Drain the Formaldehyde into a waste jar, to keep for collection. Pat dry the item, snake etc, put in clean container, and f...

Our local garden centre, has given us in the past, a small ice container, if i take a letter head, say it is for experiments. Can be helpful. Also 6 different types of soils, again small amounts. Good, beats buying it.

Re: Duran/Schott Bottles
We use Amber glass bottles, even through we keep our soultions in cupboards, we find they keep better, being amber glass they help keep the light out. Glass is better in my mind, as some soultions can break plastic down, and make it brittle.

Re: First Aid Kits
Gee thanks folks. I also have First aid certificate, and you are right, we can not put burn creams or other items on students, only water or ice, plus bandaids. I renew my certificate in a week or two. Each year I go through the First aid kits which sit in the Prep rooms. And throw away a lot of thi...
