Big thanks!

Big BIG thankyou to Rhonda at Hornsby Girls High School for some boxes of much needed glassware. Great catching up with another labbie while my H.T. went off with her H.T. and talked reporting software. Great setup in a very grand old school and Rhonda has every right to be justifiably proud of her ...

Re: Taste tests. This is what I plan to use for bitter.

ANY tablets/prescription medicine/syrums regardless of strength or origin in a school should be rid of. I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. I came across a bit strong last week but in a climate where the office cannot even issue head ache relief tablets of any kind to students - never...

Re: Taste tests. This is what I plan to use for bitter.

Be VERY careful with anything along the lines of - "We use Chlorquin tablets (an old anti-malaria prescription donated by one of the teachers.)" DON'T do it. If anyone reacts in any way or a parent/caregiver gets wind of it.............. That's your employment gone and your employer will n...

Re: Chemical Safety in Schools Package

The CSIS package is now a few years old - the latest being published late 2000 but if thats the latest we have been issued with that's all we can be expected to work to. If your fussy like myself and chose to follow current private industry standards (and indeed that of other Government departments)...

Re: Lockers

Has your school asked you to look after this for them Andrew? If they have and you don't want to, claim you don't have a BA in Keyological studies or you have a rare key Phobia and they'll soon leave you alone.

The bloke (usually) that mows the lawn, repairs most things, organises contractors and conducts the sweep on Melbourne Cup day. The alrounder I 'spose! Usually wears King Gee shirts and duds. Hope this helps.

Of the 3 high schools I've worked at it's always the schools General Assistant who issues, repairs and looks after school lockers for both students and staff.

Two I've had are: "sorry it's late but I had to wait to see what my students wanted to do." and " I don't have the faintest idea what I'm doing" - both ironically from the same teacher. Beat THAT!

Re: MSDS expiry date

If you have the manufacturers details - obtain the MSDS from them. By law they must make them available to the public - online or otherwise. That way also you have the MSDS specific to their product and it should always be current from them also! If not, as above, as you're in NSW, obtain from Chemw...

Congratulations Jo-Anne! I hope staffing didn't keep you waiting for too long as sometimes they can take a while to say the least. I waited 18 months for this position but now I'm here I can say it was worth it. All the best!

They think we drink it. We have to keep a record of making indicators etc that ethanol is the base in making - not moonshine as it easily could and has done in the past.

Tapeworms? They'd need a good few acres! Were they free range? No sorry, I'm being silly. Talk about diverse. The Ag farm is going to be a big challenge from scratch, lot's of school ag farms of various sizes here on the Central Coast to aspire to and we've got a good sized area to work with - we're...

Indeed. Contact your state office of Education. If a site is available for current up to date information regarding ANY chemical you use they will let you know. I would be very surprised if the other states still resort to sending out discs in the hope that all educational institutions install them ...
