Re: Starter pistol
I've been using a generic SDS for 'signal caps'. Haven't checked Chemwatch as yet this year to see if they have one for them now.

Hi Maria,
Have you seen the 3 for 2 offer on trolleys from Westlab? I just received their latest catalogue, and immediately thought of you!

Re: Dehydration of sugar using sulfuric acid
Ours hasn't given very good results in past years either. This year we ordered some fresh acid and it worked beautifully. The teacher also tried it with castor sugar, and then pure icing sugar, getting a better reaction each time. It was one of those great occasions when the class on the other side ...

Last year one of these amazing creatures arrived with the pond specimens our lads collected from one of our farm dams.

Re: Dept of Educ regarding GHS
Thanks Sue, That will be very helpful, particularly if you are able to add a date of issue to the document, plus the source, please. ASET-NSW held a very informative PD day in Tamworth last Monday, with sessions on WHS, GHS and Science Assist. I am now preparing a report for our Principal, WHS commi...

I agree with Wendy. It was an excellent day! Thank you to all the ASET ladies for presenting a great program :clap3: Do hope you can return soon, as I'm sure those who couldn't make it because of the road closures (due to snow & ice) would like to catch up, as well as the many more who will hear...

Re: Dealing with a blocked burette
We have a piece of 300mm diameter poly (length approx 100mm longer than burettes) with poly stopper attached at one end to act as base. It can be left in the deep sink or in a bucket to soak or rinse burettes if necessary.

Thanks Rae, Unfortunately your beautiful short answer needs some clarification for an old chook like me!!! LOL I'm hoping you mean NO to reorganising Chemstore.... I'd still like an answer to Fibreweb's earlier post re having both types of safety symbols on the labels. I have been adding the diamond...

Re: Iodine Classification
So to clarify where they're put in Chemstore:
If we are still to store them according to the old system, isn't it common sense to have both pictogram and diamond clearly marked?
Are people reorganising their chemstores?

Hi CC, this is from Professor Google: 'ACIDIFIED WATER:- The concentration of ions in pure water is very low and hence it is a poor conductor of electricity. Acids can ionise better in water to produce plenty of ions and hence the conductivity of water increases. The water containing small amount of...
