I have had a teacher ask about this prac this morning. We have no potassium chlorate in stock & when I went to do a chcek on Phillip Crisp's riskasses it said users : none I assume this means it is banned from schools. We won't be doing it.

I use CLR. I buy it from Coles,let it soak then use a test tube brush to clean them.

I am like you Lorrae. I dont have time to check MSDS on a regular basis..as long as its every 5 years. Thats why I wondered if there is some way of getting an alert..maybe from Chemwatch??

I just mentioned this to my HOD & printed off a new MSDS. She has said we wont be using it any more due to the change. Thanks Lorrae for bringing this up. Merilyn, that is why i have asked for my HOD to come with me to this course. They really have no idea!! I am hoping the information will then filter down to ALL teachers.

It looks good. I will ask my HOD to come with me. Maybe if a teacher did the course they might take OHS more seriously. I wish it wasn't all the way in town though!
