Hi to the Brains Trust.
Yes I'm back at my old school but that's a story for another day.
Can anyone help me with this colorimeter please?
I hope I have attached the photo properly.
I have followed the instructions a couple of times using fresh solutions each time but I cannot get it to read 100% transmission, so I don't even get as far as using the different dilutions.
I will try to attach the instructions in another post.
Thanks
J

Re: Chemtrix Colorimeter
Welcome back Julie. Bet they are very happy to have you back in Dorrigo .
Sorry don't have that same colorimeter but I was wondering if maybe your tubes have gone opaque with age ?
I noticed this in the instructions
can you get 100% on any other wavelength .
Has a mudwasp crawled in and blocked up the light path ?
Its pretty simple inside , A beam of light shines through to a light sensor so unless there is something blocking the light path , it should work . If it all appears clean then its possible that there is a fault in the electronics

If you completely remove the tube can you adjust for 100% ?NOTE
WHEN HANDLING CELLS AVOID FINGER MARKS ON THE LOWER PORTION OF THE CELL SINCE THIS
Will AFFECT THE LIGHT PATH.

Thanks, Richard. It's good to be back (most of the time).
I made sure the tube is totally clean and no blemishes but didn't think to check the light path. There is no mudwasp in there and you can definitely see the light source but even with nothing in there I can't get 100%.
I'll give the surfaces a good clean and see if that helps.

Re: Chemtrix Colorimeter
good luck Julie . It's starting so sound like maybe the electronics has failed .
Only other thing that comes to mind is if its been dropped . You know how sometimes if a Voltmeter gets dropped , it won't read full scale anymore because the little springs at each end of the meter get tangled . You can pull the meter apart and often give the spring a little poke and a flick and it spings back to its right position .

No luck
I removed the pack panel and cleaned inside and still nowhere even approaching 100%.
I think it's a dead duck.
