Powder for dish washers

Hi,

I use a dishwasher for washing glassware and other items.
I have terrible trouble with residue left on the glassware.
Just wondering what powder others use for this purpose?
Or is it another problem altogether??

Greetings,

I use Morning Fresh ultra shine tablets. However, the glassware comes out just as dirty as it was to start with, so I would be grateful for any suggestions also. I put an extra tablet in the machine but with no better results.

I have gone back to scrubbing, soaking and washing everything by hand.
At least we are saving water by not using the dishwasher!

We use Finish tablets or powder, but rinse off as much loose material as you can before placing in the dishwasher. Our dishwashers (Simpson Silencio 850's) seem fussy as to where you place the glassware inside. I took the advice from the forum on stains and soak in Napisan overnight for the really stuborn stuff beforehand. I usually prefere to hand wash anyway if I have time. We're on level 4 water restrictions here and every bit counts!

Hi,

For 'Miele' machine made in Germany Neodisher A8-mechanical detergent for laborstory glassware and 'neodishern' - acid detergent and neutralisor works ok after removing loose staff. On some stuburn stains soaking in 1M HCL helps.

Dear Wiesia,
So what do you do with the "loose Staff" after you have removed them? We had some loose staff once but eventually they found another school!

I only wish I had a dish washer (besides me, that is)!

(sorry, we have just had a science staff BBQ, so I am feeling flippant!)

We had the same problem before, and purchased a bottle, (Can not for the life of me remember the name) But it was this year, contained a small amount of Sulfuric Acid, you put it through the dish washer when it is empty. I Purchased ours from "Wools". It did the job really well.
It was on TV so I am told.

I think it might be Finish Dishwasher Cleaner. Like you, Sue, I used some in my dishwasher at home. There are ads on TV up here.

There is only have a small benchtop dishwasher here, which proved to be more trouble than it was worth! No space to keep it out, no other sink to use if it was 'plugged' in, didn't hold much, and the glassware didn't come out clean.

More effective to wash it myself!

Has anyone out there used a product called DRI-DECON in their dish washers. It is supplied by Omega Scientific S.A. Expensive to buy up front but lasts for a long time. I've been waiting for years for a dishwasher to use it in, but in the meantime three heaped teaspoons in a bucket and soak for either a long or short time and rinse. Glassware comes up squeaky clean. Use a bristle brush on any grime. Make sure you use rubber gloves as skin contact can cause skin to become very dry - enzymes in the powder have a tendency to eat into your skin.

Hi there,
We use a powder called Gallaway A from Perth Scientific. It is very low in phosphates and recommended for use in analytical labs where it is necessary for little or no residue to remain on glassware. Have found it to be very good and quite economical.Also has little or no perfume so doesn't make me sneeze!!

Hi,

I use Finish powerball tablets and find I have no problems with cleaning items.
If it is an especally dirty load I use the pots cycle, and like others soak really stobourn stuff.

I find after a while (even new dishwashers) build up residue, so I run some citric acid through from time to time. Hope this helps.

Anything this will not shift is 'accidentally' broken and replaced from LIVINGTONE.
