nitrate salts

I have just been told that a new advice has come in that we can not use nitrate salts any longer. Is this correct?

it was not a very reliable source.... the kid of another labbie told one of the teachers so he asked me to check up.

You can't buy ammonium nitrate anymore but other than that I don't know... but maybe that's where it's coming from?

Ammonium Nitrtate is about to change class also, to Explosvie, which is why we can not any longer buy it, we can use it if we still have it. But banning all Nitrates thats silly, why.
