Maybe there's a nearby school already done?
If the labbie and school were willing to host an invasion, of course!
Perhaps an 'extra excursion' after Thursday's sessions are over...

I am looking forward to St Mary's Conference.
A visit to other schools laboratories would be a great idea and of "educational benefit". I would love to see how others are organised.
Best wishes to all

Hi
As a new comer to the conference I am just wonderiing about parking at the School? Is there plenty of parking, or a particular entrance we need to come to? Is there anything about local traffic conditions we should be aware of driving there? Will it be obvious when we arrive where we have to go? Yeah, I'm always a little nervous about driving new places! Thanks for your help

My advice for those of you catching trains, get good directions BEFORE you go! (Or have someone who can meet you at the station) The year I went, I was told it was easy to find the school and was just a short walk, which it is if you go in the right direction. I figured if it was that close I could ask the rail attendant at the station - WRONG!!! They didn't speak English! So when I asked for directions to St Mary's school they didn't know what I was talking about, and I couldn't understand them. Needless to say, after a while she pointed in the wrong direction and off I went. I eventually asked for directions again when I realised I wasn't going to magically find the school.

Good one, RosalieM,
I am catching planes and trains and have checked out the rail website which gives me a great map and charts the whole trip from airport to central to st marys and then walking to the motel or school. It is worth a look especially for a first timer like me!

Cheers,

Thanks Noona!
May I ask a dopey question? What do I wear? Do I need covered flat shoes and trousers or can I wear a skirt and sleeveless top?
I am doing basic skills, chem, physics etc - not specimens so I know I shouldn't need my lab coat or do I?

From an obvious first timer trying to pack her suitcase! :D

I would agree with you, flat shoes are the way to go. As for clothes, what ever the weather tells you to wear. It is due to be cooler again on Thurs & Fri. But only some of the workshops ask you to do some thing. Mustly we just take notes. Looking forward to seeing you all.

Thank you ladies for all those wardrobe tips. Now I can go and pack my bag!

See you soon. I have been wondering if I will bump into any of you at the airport or on the train and won't know who you are.
I did discuss with Liz getting you all to wear your avatar - which would mean Liz would have a very cheeky giraffe on her t shirt. :cheesy: and I would have a little choo choo :giggle: .
Looking forward to some fun along with all the note taking I will be doing.

Thanks again.
