Big bag thingy

Post by Merilyn1 »

Okay, sorry for the terrible description. Years ago, a teacher I'm working with bought, what can only be described as a very large garbage bag. The idea, you got a group of students to fill it with air by running with the bag open, then it was sealed off and as it heated up it would rise up (some students would have to hold onto it so it didn't float away). Great outdoor fun as it would take a whole class to launch it. I know it was purchased from Prof Bunsen. Just wondering if anyone knows what it is called or if you have an old Prof Bunsen catalogue, could you let me me know what it is called? Thanks.

Hi Merilyn
They're still available and I've sent a PM about the supplier.
Cheers

This is the thingy I was looking for. It's called a solar bag and is a lot of fun:

We bought one of these last year. First use, it got ripped in two places. I've taped the rips up with black electrical tape, but no-one seems keen to get it out again.

We've got one, called Solar Airship (supplier unknown) which came with kite-line and handle. Works well in the morning.

Ha! A bit like me! :giggle: Known to be a bit sluggish in the afternoon.

Good to get another name for it in case the one we get is no good. Thanks Xenon.
