Hi all,
Does anybody do this prac with Y12? We never seem to have much success. Have tried different strengths of Ammonia, and regardind the CO2, have been generating with Calcium carbonate and HCl, but am thinking of getting some dry ice and giving that a go. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards, Ellice.

Re: Solvay Process
Hi Ellice,
This is probably not much help but we left it up to only performing the heating calcium carbonate, dissolving the ammonia in brine and bubbling carbon dioxide thru the brine. Mostly because we don't have all the equipment, but also because the "dot point" only requires the student to perform "a chemical step in the Solvay Process". How do others approach it?
