I am one of the generation that had mercury on our desks in primary school all day every day. I worked for a few years doing research at Uni using mercury in an Anodic Stripping Voltameter - all of the used mercury had to be cleaned regularly and at least twice a year I would arrive to find the capillary tube had broken and the floor completely covered with mercury - and I got to clean it up off the floor, then clean it so it could be re-used. No hazmat, no mask, no overalls...

But it's the little bits that lodged in the cracks that remained for years that gave long term exposure that did all the damage, causing insanity, Too late Al Zimer hit first
