Hi All & Happy New Year!!!
Can anyone think of a chemical that changes colour when heated in water??
Our memories have gone blank here......getting up to speed takes time....

Hi Robyn,
The only thing I can think of would be to use a glucose solution with some benedicts solution added. Will change from blue to orange when heated.

I found something else too
Thermochromic materials reversibly change colour as their temperature is
changed. There are a very large number of systems, but one common example
of thermochromic transitions in metal complexes is the transition between
the blue tetrahedral and pink octahedral coordinations of cobalt (II) when
cobalt chloride is added to anhydrous ethanol and the temperature changed.

Just some extra info that might be useless, but from engineering supply co's you can buy thermal crayons they chalk them on metal and as you heat the metal they change colour at differant temperatures
