smelly dishwashers
Hi everyone for those of you who have the privilege of a dishwasher in your prep room, I was wondering how you keep it from smelling yuk. I have bought a couple of those things that hang off the top rack and are supposed to last up to 60 washes but they seem to lose their power after one or two... I don't want to spend a fortune because it really is only for my benefit (aesthetic pleasure...) but if there is a simple cheap solution to the problem I'd love to know about it!! Thanks

Re: smelly dishwashers
You may need to send one of the cleaners through the dish washer.
I just get the no frills brand and it works well

Adding bicarb soda to a wash is supposed to be good for smelly bits. I haven't tried it though. Vinegar??

Just read this in a book all about using bicarb soda for lots of things:
"To freshen up a whiffy dishwasher and give it a thorough clean, sprinkle about 3/4 cup of bicarb into the bottom of the machine and run it empty through a complete hot cycle."
And...
"No one wants to return to a smelly dishwasher after they've been on holiday, so sprinkle a little bicarb into the empty machine and leave the door slightly open. It will be a delight to come back to."
Might be worth a try.

ooooooh I am so going to try those my dishwasher and the cupboard next to it (where all the plumbing for the washer is) smells like I have a flatulant year nine boy residing in there.
