Hi linotas and Narelle,

I've been researching this too, as am flying down & back instead of driving, so a first for me this year.

It costs $16.20 ($32.40 return) from the airport to Central. However, if we were originating the journey at Central and bought return tickets for a station further along the line (but got off at the airport) it'd only cost $8.40 return.
Perhaps someone else knows a way around that? Fare from Central - St Marys is $12.80 Adult Return.

As Narelle said, it's an hour by train between St Marys and Central Station.

There are 4 trains leaving St Marys that Friday between 2 and 3pm, each taking an hour, give or take 1 or 2 mins.

Change platforms at Central for the Airport line. These trains run every 6 to 10 mins, for a journey of approx. 10mins. Although I don't know how long it takes from the station into the Terminal - perhaps someone else can advise about that part.

As Narelle said, google City Rail to find the site with all this info.

Look forward to seeing you at the Conference!

Thanks Liz. Looks like the strain is the way to go. As I will not have checked in luggage (unless I go shopping ;)) and hopefully can find a computer/printer to use on friday I can check myself in before I get there so will only need to be at the airport at 430pm.

Time seems to have flown by and it's getting quite near. Im excited but a little nervous about not knowing anyone lol

You will soon meet people! From memory the airport station is pretty much right under the airport so you get off the train and into the lift (or up the stairs) and there you are! Just need to go through security and get to your gate :) Someone else might correct me as it is a while since I have flown. I wish I was going this year...

The train from airport to central is great! You take the lift straight down from either domestic or international - they both have stations on the train line.. it seems only a few minutes and you are at central..the worst part is at Central as there is not a lift easily accessible for anyone with heavy bags.
The platform is mostly the farthes one over from the central terminal cafes.

travel:
I am driving from Newcastle. At the moment I have only 2 passengers. If anyone needs a lift from Newcastle and back, OR just home to Newcastle after the day, then I can fit you in..

Just re-reading some of these posts - just be aware that train tickets are only vaild on the day or purchase, so don't buy a return ticket unless you are returning that day!

:)

see you all in 2 weeks!!!!!!

Hi CC,
I can't work out if that's sarcasm or not! Are you not happy with the sessions you are in? Did you get any of the ones you wanted? There maybe someone who would be willing to swap one or two with you so you at least get to do SOMETHING that will interest you. I would offer but I'm not going this year :(

I am sorry for the confusion. I am super excited. I love going to SLAMN, there is always something to learn and so many great people to meet. Really, for me, they are not long enough.

I know that myself and Noona and some of the rest of the committee wear them every day to work, saves our clothes and as i said its like a uniform.
