Spectrometer
Does anyone run an IEC (or other brand) spectrometer for Flame-Emission, Atomic Absorption, Colorimetry?

I wish!
I used to use all of those in Industry - once - when i was highly paid.... sigh...

Re: Spectrometer
We just use the cheap plastic spectroscopes you look through when doing the flame tests. We have a colorimeter that goes with our data logger that only gets used about once a year for senior chemistry.

Re: Spectrometer
we have those as well....
I just have a teacher here in his first year who has scholarship money that needs to be spent by the end of year. He's a chemistry teacher so thought that the IEC Spectrometer for Flame Emission / Atomic Absorption looked good

Re: Spectrometer
I would say that a set data loggers and sensors would get more use, but if you want a cool toy instead then I'd say go for it!

Re: Spectrometer
We have a fibreoptic spectrometer and it is fantastic. Was very expensive roughly $2000. Gets used a fair bit.

Re: Spectrometer
We could add to the datalogger sensors, that's where this discussion started. He looked at the UV-vis that went with Vernier then his mentor (the existing Chem teacher) decided that AAS would fit better with our curriculum

Re: Spectrometer
Hi,
I have an IEC Spectometer and I know this may sound ridiculous but I cant seem to get the atomiser out to put the solution in it. Anyone have any experience with these to give me a hint or 2?

Re: Spectrometer
Hi all,
Resurrecting this thread. I have inherited the IEC flame absorption spectrometer/colorimeter. What do I use for the air inlet connection? A gas cylinder? An air compressor? I don't have much experience with either.

Re: Spectrometer
Hello MissKat and others
I did a bit of a search online and found this site and document, which has a little more information about the IEC flame absorption spectrometer/colorimeter than the actual IEC site:

Hope this helps in a little way

Re: Spectrometer
Hello Team,
I figured out how to post the instruction sheet for the IEC Flame and AA Spectrometer and hopefully this is attached as a Word Document
Cheers
