Ours was replaced a couple of years ago with melamine lined board. So far so good.

Do a search for shelving and check out the Dexian shelving image that Nickyw posted. If I was to have new shelving for storing chemical solutions, that is what I would choose.

I have just bought Gratnell for our chem store. It hasn't been installed yet so don't know how it will go. Fingers crossed!!

Hi Everyone
Just wondering what type of shelving you have in your chemical store. We have metal & it is badly corroding.
I don't know if I should have it replaced with metal again or wood.
I would like to know what your thoughts are please.
I appreciate your help
Nahrein

We have wooden shelving, but I have double glass (ex-broken windows) on every shelf. Excellent to clean and wipe over. Quite a few years ago our Gen Asst arranged with the local glazier that all broken windows be double-glazed and fitted to go over my wooden shelves - in both Prep rooms and most of my main Chemical Store room. Fantastic.

We have wooden with chem resistant laminate, same as our lab benches. Anything really nasty has its own drip tray.
