physics string

Hi Everyone,
Just wondering what you use for physics string? You know, the stuff that is supposed to not stretch when using pulleys, pendulums etc? I remember buying some a couple of years ago but the packaging disappeared a short time later and now I just have a zip lock bag with various lengths labelled "physics string". I'd like to get some more for next year.
Thanks in advance!
Rosalie

Think it is sailor's thread, from q-stores? but it is not for sale any more. I have had a great problem trying to purchase some.

Thanks. I did search for physics string before posting but didn't come up with anything. I thought it had come up before. Perhaps using different words. I'm pretty sure the one I ordered last time was just called Physics String possibly from Scientrific.

I tried ordering from ___________________ in Bankstown for SF010 white reel. And unless you can go to the shop, they will not deliver to schools. Must be paid for before it is sent. SO they lost our service.

Hi All,

Any thick (3mm diam) string that will not undo itself (if that makes sense).. But I will give you a little trick of the trade....

LISTEN CAREFULLY......... Brick layers string (the coloured stuff). Perfect for Physics. I use it on my Physics projects at Uni (No..... not on Satellites or that!!) but other pendulum or other collision projects. And you can burn the end to prevent any sort of fraying.

Its even better then the string theory as we physicits theorise..... heee, heee. Cheers,

(Oh and you can get it at Bunnings)... It's a secret though....

Robb.....

Yes, that's what I use. Bonus is it is in nice bright colours so doesn't get lost in the dark unkinow of the draw/cupboard!

Wondered what the "dark unkinow" was. Speculated about it for a short while thinking it might have been some parallel universe where string goes missing, and then realised it was the "dark unknown" of the draw /cupboard. Which is a little disappointing because an "unkinow" has such potential for the imagination. Then again the back of a draw/cupboard holds many mysteries to be explored.
