A belated Happy New Year to All

Does anyone or school have a membership with LAZSTA? Most information on website and Wiki relates to 2009 with little mention of following years. I would like to hear more of it if you can help.

Renewing the membership at the moment for both LAZSTA (regional) and STANSW but was wondering if anyone ever used their membership for training, conferences etc??? Has membership been of value?

I ended up letting my STANSW membership go as it wasn't worth it.
I think being a member of ASET is a better option

Hi

I'm President of LAZSTA. I noticed a trail of questions and comments. I am happy to answer any of them. But as a start:

1) We are no longer associated with STANSW. We are an Incorporated Science association so we are standalone.
2) LAZSTA has been around for a long time. We serve all educational sectors.
3) We run a number of programs for both teachers and students.
4) Membership gives you discounts in some workshops and student programs.

Teacher programs
1) Science conference:
Theme: Preparing for a new curriculum in a dynamic future
Cheaper than most of the conferences around.
When: Friday 27 - Saturday 28 October
Where: Novotel Parramatta.
Registration: https://forms.gle/iXabRJPbaR1Lcnp4A

2) Science network meetings
Held once per term at a local high school. The theme depends on the needs of teachers.

3) Stage 6 Exams
We write and sell Stage 6 exams for all science subjects, including Science Extension.
Order form: https://forms.gle/gtFwxWvsvcYfSydh6

4) Different workshops throughout the year
So far we have run:
- Beginning Teachers workshop
- Effective Questioning workshop
- Classroom Management workshop.

Student programs - these are run in partnership with Western Sydney University at Parramatta (School of Science) and Penrith (School of Education)
Member schools get discounts per student.

1) Year 12 Chemistry Days - UV/VIS, AAS, Sulfate in fertiliser prac (full already this year)
2) Year 8 Science Days - 3 labs of fun experiments.
3) Science and Maths Exposed - Aimed at Stage 5 students
4) Year 12 Study days - to be recommenced in 2024.
5) Year 12 Biology and Physics days - to be organised hopefully in 2024.

I am happy to answer any questions and provide you with a membership form if you wish.
