hi I've had a request for dry ice does anyone know if and where you can get it from?

Your local BOC will have it. It is about $11 a kilo, just take a little esky with you.

Just note that it wont last all day so best to pick it up just before you need it.

Just check with your Head teacher, as some schools have banned it after that teacher, did the wrong thing. Some schools will only let the Head teacher purchase it, & not the labbie. So it is worth while checking. We here can not leave the school during our working hours, FOR ANY REASON. they are new rules that are going right across the country, changes I hate. We are NOT covered if something where to happen to us.

There is a place here at minto and they deliver. called dry ice tech! we used them for science week last term.

BOC does not supply dry ice in sydney anymore or at least our local one doesn't as I found out recently oh and they dont deliver either.

we did a whole week of dry ice experiments in a private school.

The idea is not to ban "dry ice " pracs
But to ban idiots who do stupid things with it

I purchased dry ice both mornings of conference from BOC at Marayong (Vardys Road)
They also opened at 730am.
I just rang the day before to make sure they had stock of it -as you can't order it as such.

Does anyone know if liquid carbon dioxide is allowable in DET schools?

It is allowed as far as I know, and we use it about once a year.

It would be liquid nitrogen. We use it occasionally for special days. It comes in a Dewar bottle which you hire, plus the cost of the liquid nitrogen, plus the cost of delivery. It is an expensive exercise but fun. The bottle is definitely not light when it contains liquid nitrogen and you need someone who knows what they are doing when handling it. There is no room for accidents. We have gotten ours from BOC. You should be able to run off an SDS from BOC or ask for one.

On the South Coast, we get our Dry Ice from Tarrant's Service Centre, Bomaderry. They will be moving to South Nowra sometime in the future.
