Has anyone tried this recipe? Did it need much fiddling to get correct pH? I need to prepare for last period.
Mineral Salt Solution to make one litre:
0.417g calcium nitrate
0.2g boric acid
0.101g potassium nitrate
0.217g magnesium sulphate heptahydrate
3.5ml of 1.0M ammonium hydroxide
Sugar solution
1.2M sucrose (41g sugar in 100ml of distilled water).
Equal volumes of these two solutions should have a pH of 8.8. Vary the ammonium hydroxide in the first solution to adjust the pH.
