Hoffman"s Apparatus
YAY!!! I have just replaced my old leaky carbon rods in old stoppers in the old Hoffman's Apparatus with Westlab's silicone UNI-Stop ones. So far so good, haven't had time to check it but have the prac later today. Fingers crossed.

It is blitzing! It is the green stoppers with fat carbon electrodes and 5% NaCl on 8 Volt DC. We are yet to test the gases and we are unsure if the NaCl is too strong and we have Cl, instead of H2 and O2. You need only very dilute NaCl soln.

Interesting , we have always used Sulfuric acid . Good to know the carbon electrodes work . We just got some replacement electrodes with the Platinum foil type …….bloody expensive .
