Our Senior chemistry are doing the Preparing artificial fragrances and flavours experiment.
Has anyone made the salicylic acid or the decanoic acid stock solution.

Any recipes would be great - thanks in advance.

My question to that Kimmy is, has anyone been able to source the decanoic acid? I'm either having a bad senior moment or I am just useless, but none of my regular suppliers have this...

I'm pretty sure it was salicylic acid that our Chem teacher used last year . he'd never used it before . Next minute , I'm driving the Physics teacher around to the ER ( hospital is only 500m up the road) with a bad Asthma reaction .

This year he didn't use it , no issues from the physics teacher . Just say'n

Mine is older stock but still fine to use. I think it came from either Chem Supply or Serrata Chemicals a few years ago.
