Hi;
To make 1000mL of 1M ammonia sol. from 2M ammonia: dilute 500mL of 2M ammonia with distilled water up to 1000mL in a volumetric flask, so you'll have 1L of 1M ammonia sol.
Why do you need 1M copper solfate for??? We only use 0.1M or 0.5M. anyway to make up 500mL of 1M copper solfate: You need to dissolve 79.81g (159.62/2) copper solfate in 400mL distilled water and then make up to 500mL in a valumetric flask.
Hope that helps.
Good luck

Hi,
If you have Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate, it is a different Molecular weight, 249.68, So for 1M you would need 12.5g of Copper sulfate Pentahydrate, 475ml of distilled water, and 25ml of Conc Sulfuric acid this would make up 500ml of 1M for you. It is very expensive to make up 1M of copper sulfate.

Hope it helps you

Reason: Missed the point between 125g should be 12.5 sorry

The easiest way to remember how to make up molar solutions is that it is the molecular weight in grams in 1 litre of water eg I am making up a 0.1M of EDTA which has a molecular weight of 372.24g (from the packaging label) therefore I need 37.22 g in 1 liter of water (372.24 x .1)
another handy formular is
M(final) x mls (final) = M (original) x mls (original)

Hi Lindy,
Re the Acetic acid, I've always presumed vinegar was 4% Acetic acid, (or 0.5M).
Hope this helps.
