FerrOUS Chloride (Hydrated)

Hi All,
I have just unpacked a bottle of Ferrous Chloride, but I can not find it in the "Appendix D" bible. Ferric Chloride is there, and is a Green Dot. Does any body know what colour dot goes on Ferrous Chloride?

(I don't expect anybody OUTSIDE NSW to understand this e-mail! It is just a NSW "thing")

Had quick look on Chem watch, No Packing Group & No DG Class,

My self I would put a GREEN dot on to it.

See what you think, perhaps others out their in NSW could help.

Hi,
In the Csis Appendix I Schedules for the inventory of Chemicals listed in Appendix D Iron(11) chloride hexahydrate is listed as Substances not classified as Dangerous Goods.I think a green dot it is then!!

Chem Supply class Ferrous Chloride as hazardous and corrosive, dangerous goods class 8!! Another one of those inconsistencies you can find if you look hard enought! Probably still ok to put a green dot on it?

Hi,
I know I get my Ferrous and Ferric mixed up but according to appendix I Iron(III) chloride isn't that Ferric is a class 8 Corrosive substance and this IS listed in appendix D but Iron(II) chloride (ferrous) isn't listed in appendix D but is listed in Appendix I(the inventory as Non hazardous. That is my understanding anyway.

Yep. Ferrous is Iron II. At least that is what it says on the lable. I can't see it as being substantially worse than Ferric Chloride, so Green it is, then!

Hi All,

The most that Iron (II) Chloride will ever get is being (Harmful, closely related to Irritant) so going with the Green Dot is certainly a step in the right direction.
