Yes I have a phone in my preproom straight opposite the staffroom, it is handy but one in the staffroom would be good. When you get busy mixing chemicals and so on the phone always rings!!

You could of course cut it on an angle then maybe dip it in the spirit eg: Metho and twist whilst pushing the wick through.

I have had a teacher use mobile phones in the bell jar the students love it! And I have sealed my bell jar with plasticine as it was sealed with vasoline and it was so messy.
