Re: air conditioners in school

We recently finished the new building and the only room with air con is the teachers staff room. All the labs have fans. The prep room has nothing, not even any cross ventilation, the air in here doesn't move at all. I recorded the temp. last week and had a high of 34C and a low of 32C. Was so glad ...

Re: Latex Gloves

Hi Ocker
I buy the nitrile gloves they're powder free and latex free. The kids that are allergic to latex here have all been fine with them. They're expensive though at $20.50 a box. They are more chemically resistant than vinyl or rubber.

Hi Ellice
you could try having a look at www.instructables.com. They have recipes and instructions for bath salts, bath bombs and even instructions on how to bath your rat!?!?
Have fun

Re: Making eosin yellowish

Hi Lorrae
I haven't made any fresh eosin for a couple of years. I made it with water and its red. When made with water its to show movement of water in plants or in histology. When made with ethanol its for staining cytoplasm.

Re: Zinc sulphate

HI
There is a good website that has a calculator for working out lots of different solution probs like percent to molar solution or molar to molar etc. If you'd like to try it out the address is
www.cleanroom.byu.edu/MolestoAnything.phtml
Just for future reference if you ever need it.

Re: Zinc sulphate

Hi Again that post didn't come out quite like it should. What it is in long hand is that the amount of stock solution required ( here your 5% solution)is equal to the required molarity x molecular weight x volume required divided by the stock percantage x 10. Or for a 0.1M you need 0.1 x 287.54 x100...

I have a tank here that we have turtles in, there a also some fish but they are turtle food so the amount of fish goes up and down according to how good the turtles strike rate has been. Hi Labgirl
I too have been considering making the switch to teaching, its interesting to read all these posts. Definitely giving me second thoughts.
I was thinking of it from purely a money perspective not a lifestyle choice.
Thanks for the food for thought guys.
