Re: hydrochloric acid fumes
Hi all So what do you do when you have one "flammables" cupboard and one "oxidising" cupboard within the chemical stoarge room? Is nitric acid better just on the shelves instead of in the cupboard with HCL , acetic etc? And what about diluted stock solutions? Is it OK to have th...

Hi I also have the problem of having only one corrosives cupboard to store all corrosives in, although we also have an oxidising agent cupboard. So at the moment I have conc acids and bases together. I am having trouble with corrosion of the labels etc. I tried putting the HCL container in a plastic...

Test Tubes
Hi everyone
How do you all store your test tubes in the classrooms so they don't break? We have ours in a drawer but they roll around (even with a no-slip mat) as the drawer is opened and bang into each other.

Wollongong labbies
To all labbies in the Wollongong area
Would any of you be interested in having a look at each others labs sometime - just to see different set ups, and other ideas on how things are done? I was thinking the first week we come back after the holidays might be a good time.

junior school colour coding
Hi everyone
For those of you who also are doing the chemical inventory for the whole school, do we have to put colour dots on items such as kids paint which is classed as blue and which they go through litres and litres of the stuff?

Hi Robb and everyone else Could you pleae explain what is required of us as far as RA's go. I have copied the Chemwatch RA's for every chemical, plus made up a few of my own for some items they didn't have. These are signed by the head teacher then put away where I doubt they are ever get looked at ...

Hi Robb Thanks again for your help. You obviously have a vast wealth of knowledge and experience and I appreciate you sharing with us. How did you determine that flyspray is green ie: is it in there manual somewhere? Someone else told me she classes anything with hydrocarbon propellant in orange bec...

Thanks - that has been very helpful. I was just a little confused when you said blue when I think you meant green ie 7-12. Now for another question...... What would the colour be for things like washing or dishwashing powders which may contain 90% of things ok for 7-12, but 10% of something more nas...

colour coding again!
Hi
Just to recheck about this colour coding. For paints used in Art, if they contain solvents they should be classified as orange (yr 11/12) correct? Is this even if they are in only small containers eg: 50mls, and you know they are going to be used for yrs 7-12?
