Re: Safety Vitamin C D.G 4

Maybe this is something to do with the concentration (>99%) and in large quantities :-?

Re: freezing body parts

Hi Rae,
I usually freeze eyes( when I can get them!!)in Normal Saline(0.9%) and freeze in takeaway containers, lens towards the bottom of the container. I was told that helps to keep the lens clear.

Re: rats

In WA we also have to apply for animal ethics permission to dissect rats even though they are already dead- and need to apply a minimum of 8 weeks or so in advance! Haven't done them for a very long time now which suits me just fine \:D/

Re: PCDG - DEFINE OBJECTIVES

Good question Darryl. I am very interested to hear what other schools are teaching in year 10. Maybe we could have a poll- who specialises in year 10, who leaves it until 11,12?

Re: permanent hair slides

Hi Sassi, Does the grey and wess mountant dry so that any excess can be trimmed with a scalpel and peeled off the slide - like you can do with DPX? I made some up- love the resulting product \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ but was wondering how well my slides will tidy up. It has been many years since my slide makin...

Feulgen's or Gallocyanin-chrome alum would also do it but none are really suitable for a school lab. :-(

Re: Real life bugs and insects

We are still getting ours- and love them too!! They have really been useful for all sorts of pracs- used by year8s through to 11s. And the freebies -dvd, poster etc- are good fun as well. All in all, a great investment and thankyou so much Fibreweb for putting us all on to it! =D> =D> =D>

Re: Help Sassi

Oh, Kim! Don't you hate it when they don't work- I have had more enzyme pracs fail than I care to admit :whistling2: We did have success with this one though. I blended about 6 green capsicum with 100ml distilled water- made about 500ml capsicum juice, and used freshly made 10% hydrogen peroxide. Re...

Re: Emzyme Test

Hi Sassi, Thank you for posting this prac =D> . My teachers are keen to have a go. Could you tell me approximately how many capsicum you blend up- also is it just enough water to cover, or more   ? Capsicum extract is a new one for my repertoire but I am willing to try!! Thanks heaps...

Re: Rocket Engine

I have some model rocket engines that came with the instructions:Do not use damaged model rocket engines. Soak them in water for a day or two until they come apart, then put the remnants in the bin outside.
Sounds easier than trying to get the powder out! :-)

Re: Real life bugs and insects

Our first issues arrived today- they look fantastic! The blocks are quite a reasonable size and the photography and info in the booklets are great. Judging by the reactions of several students who happened to be walking by they are destined to be a big hit. Useful for not only lower school classific...

Re: DVD instead of VIDEOS

Hi Kimmy,
Check to see if the little tab on the video tape has been removed. If it has I don't think you can copy it to dvd- or video. It is the protection mechanism to prevent something being taped over it.
