We store our cords on a garden hose hanger which is attached to the wall. The power packs themselves are on an adjacent shelf. Works for us

Re: Stocktake program
I worked from an excell spread sheet prior to getting this program. They are fantastic for a lot of things, but what I really like about Sci-List is the little extra things like having a photographic inventory of equipment. I have given my teachers limited access to the program so that they can sear...

Re: mini polystyrene balls
Hi Rosalie, I feel your pain! :console: I have fielded numerous complaints in the past from cleaners who have had the misfortune to tidy up after a period 6 static electricity class. I now keep the bean bag beans- I am assuming this is what you are talking about- in a glass stoppered reagent bottle....

Re: Harvesting skin cells
Hi there- some of us are still here... Don't know what the regs are in Tassie but here in WA all human tissue is banned- so I would take that to mean skin cells as well. Just a thought- maybe skin scrape the skin on a chicken wing or leg from the butchers and make smears from this.

Re: thinking science
Hi Jazz, We do something similar, although not from the 'Thinking science" program. We use flexible plastic tubing from Bunnings, about 30mm or so in diameter with glass marbles- have used ball bearings as well. We have also used the clip together conduit- sorry I don't know the proper name- bu...

Re: Oceans Alive Video
Hi Sunray, We have a copy of Oceans Alive on VCR but it was recorded by my school prior to 01/07/1990 according to the sticker on it- which is also prior to me working here! The sticker also says "It is illegal to copy this video". Not sure if you might be able to copy it with permission f...

Re: DNA necklace kit
Carolina Biological Supply Company make these so I guess you could ask Southern Biological to get them for you. Are you allowed to use cheek cells in your state? We are not permitted to use any human material here. Strawberry or kiwi fruit DNA around your neck?

If I am not mistaken, orthodontic arch wires(which many of our students are very familiar with!) are made from nitinol wire. I am considering buying some of these as I reckon it will be cheaper. Arch wires can be bought on ebay- although their memory is set in the arch shape, they can still have the...
