That sounds like a great plan, Debbie, and I may well do that anyway. Unfortunately the corks will not be the ones I want, but what the heck?

Re: preserved specimens
Thanks for that, but we have a huge number of these disgusting, decaying things that I really do NOT want to open!! Most have been here much longer than my nearly 20 years so their contents are often unidentifiable.

Re: Chemwatch, registers, etc
I am only responsible for the Science chemicals. Everyone else has to do their own, but they do it manually and only the TAS people have access to chemwatch. They don't do their register there, and neither do I. I just use a spreadsheet, which has never been questioned. I use Chemwatch to get safety...

Re: preserved specimens
I really want to get rid of all of ours! I hate them, they are old and take up space in storage, and we never use them. Unfortunately most are not labelled with what they contain. Any that I made myself are done with 50% metho solution and labelled accordingly, but the older ones are probably formal...

Re: Corks
Thank you, everybody, for your replies. I will probably try the brewing shops as they seem to be the cheapest. And some even have the tapered corks, which is what I am after.

Having trouble sourcing old fashioned cork stoppers. I've always had a big stash of them on hand, but lately we've been using them and can't find where to buy more.
Any ideas?

Re: Laboratory Skills Course
Some of us did Cert III online through Armidale TAFE. 3 semesters, with 2 weekend workshops at Armidale University per semester. The weekends were full-on and we had to pay for accommodation, but got the Certificate at the end of it - and it didn't cost anywhere near $6000 - OMG!!

Re: CHEMWATCH
I just sent an email to CG3, as suggested in the message that comes up when you open CG3. This is the reply I received: Hi Judy As your school is part of the NSW Education Department you will be informed by your Education Board regarding the upgrade, which they are managing. In the meantime, please ...
