Re: Lab design
We have students here in wheelchairs so we had to get one of the labs wheelchair friendly. They installed a low stainless steel bench with sink, taps and gas outlet and with a lip at the front so if anything got spilt it wouldn't run back onto the student. It cost an awful lot of money, the plumber ...

Re: SNAKE TRAP
Where I live a "tiger snake" is called a brown tree snake as well. The ones we have are rear fang types and non venemous they seem to come out at night and like to climb and look as if they are about 2 M long. Lucky for me they are non venemous, I came home after dark one night and didn't ...

Here is a picture (hopefully) of my neighbour. I took the photo with an extra lens on my camera so I didn't have to get close to it.

SNAKE TRAP
Hi, This is a bit left field but does anyone know how to make a snake trap? Another eastern brown snake is making its appearance for the season out the back door of my lab. It is in an area that is used by staff and students not regularly but I don't want the chance of someone running past it and sc...

Hi, I printed off a manual that is fairly easy to follow about using the chemtalk program. After you login etc. on the left hand side of the screen there is a document icon. Click on that and underneath there is a list that offers workbook;quickstart;manual etc. Click on the one you want and then op...

Re: ID & Password for access to CSIS/Chemwatch
Hello, Apparently all school principals received the login and passwords for their school earlier this year. Unfortunately many didn't get passed on to the (VIP) lab assistants who actually needed them. I had to get mine from my local det area OH @ S manager, they have the passwords for all the scho...

Re: ID & Password for access to CSIS/Chemwatch
Hi, As a follow up to logins etc. I had problems from May this year until just a couple of weeks ago. Apparently the DET hadn't updated the program to the 2009 version that was the first problem, then the second problem was in the program there was a wrong number and that alone didn't allow the chemw...

Just wondering where I might be able to obtain dry polyvinyl alcohol and lactic acid from.
Is dry polyvinyl alcohol the base for PVA? and if so could normal PVA replace the Dry PA in the recipe.

Re: DET schools that were closed due to floods
Hi All, We discussed this yesterday at our office meeting and we were told by our Principal that all staff, teaching and office etc would be paid as usual. We were officially closed Thursday and Friday here. Our Principal actually received an email I assume from the DET stating that pay would not be...

Re: ID & Password for access to CSIS/Chemwatch
Hello again, I gave up trying to get help from the DET IT help desk, they tell me they don't even know what the program is, so couldn't help me out with the error message that comes up and won't allow chemicals to be added to the store/manifest that I set up. So I rang chemwatch in Melbourne who sel...

Not sure if we are allowed to recommend suppliers but
do a search for "profbunsen" on google. They have some good ideas and supplies.

I hate that!! I spent 10 minutes writing a reply, hit submit and it went to cyberspace. So here I go again. Sorry if the other one does turn up as well sometime. Hello, I have spent the last 3 days trying to get a user name and password so I can set up a manifest for our school. Apparently the local OH&S support for our region has them from ITD. My local contact has been in meetings for the last 3 days so hasn't been back to me. I think the independant s...

Hi, This is relevent to me at the moment. We have paid for the licence about $80 for the past 4 years or so but my IT support from here has said that the next time I get a CD I will probably have to upgrade or I am going to run out of space or the computer is going to be really slow. I have a stand ...

Hi,
In my laboratory book of solutions it says that for benedict's solution as a glucose test. "If glucose is present, the solution changes from a blue colour to an orange/red colour (or green if only a small amnount of glucose is present)." so I would guess they were correct.

Lorrae, Try going to level 2 from the database page, then search for sulfric acid, when the list comes up 0.1M is about five down the list. Highlight that one from the list. Then on that page click on the grey button titled "labels" on the left. Then choose custom label from the popup butt...
