Re: Hot plates
.....should I get simmerstat or thermostat controls? It is mainly used for agar and heating solutions that will disolve better heated. We have the IEC thermostat hot plate for the prep room and Simmerstats for the classrooms. You can use either but I find the thermostat one is better for making up ...

Re: Chemwatch 'fun'
Despite the excitement of realizing I don't have to do anymore labelling (According to Alan Smith ) ,I discovered today that the labels I had already put on all the Hydrochloric acid containers has the wrong GHS symbols on it . A Scull and cross bones and a Corrosive . It should be a Corrosion and a...

Re: Mineral and rock safety alert
Absolutely Narelle...I am not suggesting my gossip is gospel . Just a heads up not to throw the kits out just yet. As far as the Talc goes , I'm kinda with you about assumptions Merilyn .......but I don't think Alan would have flippantly suggested what he did if he felt there was any serious risk. A...

Re: Mineral and rock safety alert
Last week at SLAMN Alan Smith mentioned the Mohs hardness kits sayng that they had tested several different ones and they all were asbestos free . He said we could use our existing Mohs kits again . When asked about our Talc samples , he sad that they would be fine to use also and that they would ha...

Re: Christmas is coming
As well as Xmas , so is the last few weeks we have to do all the relabeling . Do you all not think it somewhat strange that the dept has not sent out any curcular to tell us we need to . I know a couple of Labbies that say they won't until they are told to. Can't wait to here Alans talk on the new C...

Re: Register of Hazardous Chemicals
Chemwatch seems to have ironed out a few bugs in their data base as hoped would happen when they switched to a new server .
Ammonium Thiocyanate and Ammonium Molybdate now print the correct Signal word and GHS symbols on labels .
The whole site seems a little faster and stable

Re: Hazardous Chemical register - chemwatch

Since I've been here we have had everything on Chemwatch . We don't have any MSDS printed out as Everyone seems to think its...

Re: should latex stink??
We have two bottles of it in the Store room .
I haven't seen anyone ask for it ever since I've been here .
I asked at recess who uses it and why and nobody knew.

Printing a Label from a Chemgold MSDS works fine but can't print labels from Vendor MSDS...just a box saying Chemwatch haven't assessed them or the likes .Tried many and all the same

Re: Digital microscope cameras
If you are throwing the image straight to a Data projector then the resolution does not need to be very high . Consider that most schools still have 600 x 800 resolution projectors ...that's just under 0.5 Mega pixals Even a HD projector with a 1080 x 1920 resolution will be a fraction over 2 Mega p...
